Press On

“…but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” –Philippians 3:13-14 (NLT)

We all have highs and lows in our lives and face different trials – big or small – but all equally important to God our Father. In Philippians 3:13-14, Paul encourages the church amidst the circumstances in his life. He reminds us that we should focus on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith (see Hebrews 12:1-2). We must be rooted in our faith and grounded in the Word of God and His promises for us. We may not always understand the circumstances in our lives but one thing is for sure, God is with us and He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is in control and sovereign over all.

Paul also shares that we should forget the past and look forward to what lies ahead. We must not let what happened yesterday hinder us from the tomorrow God has prepared for us. God’s mercies are new every morning and each day is a new day wherein God can use us to be a blessing to those around us (see Isaiah 43:18-19).

Lastly, Paul mentions to press on towards the goal. He shares in Acts 20:24, “But my life means nothing to me. My only goal is to finish the race. I want to complete the work the Lord Jesus has given me. He wants me to tell others about the Good News of God’s grace.” We are all called to spread the Gospel and it starts by applying and living out God’s Word in our daily lives. The more we spend time in the presence of the Lord, the more we become like Him.

As we get closer to 2020, may we remain steadfast in our faith and share the love of the Father wherever we go. Let us continue to fix our eyes on Jesus and entrust the unknown to our all-knowing God. Press on and #Blesstheworld!

In Christ,

Justine Anne
