Keep the Faith

16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our inner being is renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NLT)

We all face challenges in life (in school, at work, in our finances, in our relationships, etc.) but no matter how BIG or small they are, we can be sure that they are all temporary troubles of this life. In 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, Paul encouraged the Corinthians amidst their present troubles and I pray that we will all be encouraged as well:

  • NEVER GIVE IN…Keep on keeping on! Do not lose heart nor be discouraged. Let’s never give up just because we feel physically, mentally, or emotionally drained. Most of all, never give in to Satan’s attacks [see 1 Peter 5:8-9].
  • FOCUS FROM WITHIN…Tune in with the Holy Spirit and be renewed and transformed daily, for God’s great glory will always be revealed to those who patiently and faithfully wait upon Him [see Romans 8:18, 28].
  • LOOK UP AHEAD…Fix our eyes on the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Look straight up to the living God who holds our future in His hands and look ahead with faith to the perfect plans He has in store for us [see Jeremiah 29:11].

As a runner, I remember the times when I felt weary and I thought I couldn’t go on. Just like in races, sometimes we feel like giving up because we feel drained. But that doesn’t mean we should stop running the race. All the more we need to keep going and never give in to the lies of the enemy. Instead, we must focus from within and be reminded of God’s Word, which we have embedded in our hearts. Lastly, let’s look up ahead to the finish line with faith that God will see us through, by His grace.

Prayer: Father, forgive us for having doubts. Please fill us with Your Spirit and speak peace to our hearts. Help us remain firm in our faith and believe in Jesus, the Hope of Glory. Be lifted up in our lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

In Christ,

Justine Anne
