Hearing God’s voice

I’ve shared this before [July 18, 2014 – to be exact] when God impressed 1 Peter 5:1-11 to my heart. But I’m re-posting it in my blog because I believe we always need a reminder to spend time with God amidst our daily lives.

“What is spending time with God?”

Spending time with God is MORE than that time wherein the praise and worship was powerful; that time wherein the message was straight to the point and deeply touching; that time when the devotional reading was timely; that time wherein there was a revival night at church and so on…

NO, we’re getting the wrong idea because it doesn’t stop right there – a false vision of spending time with God. How can we be so sure that we are being led by the Holy Spirit and not by our emotions and feelings when we don’t even know exactly the Spirit’s voice, whispering and speaking to us? How will we ever know that it’s God speaking to us when we don’t even know His voice because we don’t spend time with Him in His Word and communicate with Him in prayer:

“The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me.” –John 10:27 (AMP)

Only by having a strong foundation in His Word and an intimate relationship with the Father will we be able to discern and hear His voice clearly and be strong to withstand the attacks of the enemy. There is so much more to this Word [see 1 Peter 5:1-11], but I know God will directly speak to your heart as you meditate on it.
