Planting Friendships

I wrote this a couple years ago but I thought I might as well re-share it in my new blog…

One night, God just randomly reminded me to be thankful for the people He has purposely placed in my life. He told me:

“a FRIENDSHIP is like a plant –

A plant that needs to be checked from time to time; pruned through correction; watered with encouragement; supported with great love and appreciation. It needs the bright Light of the Son of God as its Source, amidst its growth. And only through all these will a friendship blossom into its full beauty. But once its neglected, forgotten and not nurtured…it will slowly lose its strength, gradually die within and only fade into a once beautiful memory. So, take care of all your friendships and all your relationships…cherish them and treasure them. Because you never know what tomorrow may bring. Better live a fulfilled life you’ll never forget than a discouraged life full of regret.”

The Lord also reminded me of Philemon 1:4-7, “I always thank my God when I remember you in my prayers. That’s because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus. I hear about your love for all of God’s people. I pray that you will be active in sharing what you believe. Then you will completely understand every good thing we have in Christ. Your love has given me great joy. It has cheered me up. My brother, you have renewed the hearts of God’s people.” [NIRV]
